Portland, MAINE (July 15, 2015) – Broadreach Public Relations, a strategic communications firm located in Portland’s waterfront district, welcomes Josiah Petrin as the latest Public Relations Apprentice and Emily Martin as this year’s summer intern.

Petrin, of Kennebunk, will assist with client and media relations, as well as strategic and tactical planning. He joins Broadreach from New York-based public relations firm Sard Verbinnen & Co., where he provided support on several high-profile crisis communications initiatives. Previously he served as a student assistant in the University of Southern Maine Office of the President. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from the University of Southern Maine last year.

“Broadreach has long been recognized as an industry leader in Maine, and I am honored to be a part of such an outstanding firm,” said Petrin.

Martin, a Freeport native, will also assist with media strategy and tactics, as well as social media planning. A senior at Hobart and William Smith Colleges in Geneva, New York, she is currently pursuing a degree in Media and Society, with a focus on cultural production and journalism.

“This opportunity to work with such an esteemed strategic communications team will enhance my education in media relations,” said Martin. “I look forward to meeting all the challenges that I am presented with during my internship experience.”

Now in its fourth year, the Broadreach apprenticeship program, as well as the firm’s competitive internshipprogram, engages candidates with hands-on communications training and provides an insider’s view into the exciting and nuanced world of public relations.

“Broadreach is committed to providing ample opportunity for rising graduates in Maine,” explained Linda Varrell, President of Broadreach Public Relations. “We aim to provide practical experience to our apprentices and interns, and every year the programs continue to bring a fresh perspective to our team.”
