Hydro International Takes Proactive Steps to Maximize Maintenance Impact

In a first of its kind initiative, the stormwater product provider’s new online certification program aims to help customers maximize the longevity and cost-effectiveness of their products.

Maine (Oct. 2, 2013) – Hydro International this week announced the launch of an online maintenance certification program designed to promote the effect properly maintained systems can have on stormwater management systems. The Hydro International Certification Program aims to help owners of Hydro’s stormwater treatment products, most of whom are municipalities or private developers, comply with changing regulations, reduce lifetime ownership costs and maintain high levels of stormwater pollutant capture through proper maintenance practices.

“Not only is it crucial for the environment that all stormwater BMPs, including  Hydro brand products, be properly maintained,” said Hydro International Operations Manager, Kevin McKee, P.E., CPSWQ, “it is important that maintenance personnel know how to get the job done in the safest, most cost-effective way. Proper maintenance ensures that a stormwater treatment device has the impact on the environment that it’s supposed to, but training the maintenance crew on our particular units also saves the owners of our products time and money.”

“We’re excited to see Hydro’s commitment to proper maintenance in the industry,” commented Paul Stonemetz, Operations Manager of Stormwater Compliance, LLC, a stormwater maintenance contractor based in North Yarmouth, Maine that services systems throughout New England, and as far afield as Philadelphia and Buffalo. “A well-structured program like Hydro’s educates maintenance contractors like my crew on the equipment and saves them time in the field, and that saves the site owner money.”

Hydro’s new program is unlike anything currently available in the industry and is offered at no charge to public maintenance personnel and private maintenance service providers. Participants can find the program online where they review product-specific technical information before being guided through a certification test. Test results are reviewed within one business day after which participants are notified via e-mail of their results and receive their certification.

Maintenance contractors and municipal departments can find information on the Maintenance Certification Program and a link to the program itself by contacting Hydro International through its website,
